Nigeria goes for China’s support following the spread of the Coronavirus
Following 36 confirmed cases, after 2 discharged and 1 death reported, Nigeria goes for China’s support as reported by Federal Minister of Health (FMoH) to provide technical support to combat Coronavirus in the country.
Health Minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire called for a donation of medical supplies and equipment from the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Zhou Pingjian, in Abuja on Monday.
As businesses and organizations could reopen in China, Ehanire commended the Chinese Government for the victory of fightingCOVID19.
He noted that the Chinese government’s actions during the outbreak were instructive for the country to contain the virus.
The Minister said that the Chinese experience highlighted the value of listening to scientists and experts in public health during pandemics.
He then requested the Chinese government to support Nigeria in helping the country to review its policies with its public health experts.
He said that Nigeria wanted to learn how to introduce unparalleled containment and social distancing steps from the Chinese government.
Ehanire claimed that Mobility for the tracing of contacts, personal safety, test kits and PPEs in the region, is needed to help the country to battle COVID-19.
Earlier, Pingjian said they wouldn’t forget Nigeria’s sympathy and support when the Chinese people were at the most difficult stage in their fight against the epidemic.
